Clean Plate Club: Cancel your membership, for your health.

The CPC or Clean Plate Club, is a uniquely American idea. And it’s done as much for our health as Coca-Cola and Twinkies.

Eat everything on your plate and you win! However , I’m not sure I want the prize…

12% of US population has diabetes

30% have pre-diabetes

90% have metabolic dysfunction

No, thank you.

By not cleaning your plate and stopping when you are satisfied or no longer hungry you will be supporting your metabolism.

Over eating even on “healthy” foods can cause blood sugar and insulin dysregulation leading to the above conditions.

Consider practicing what the Japanese, Arab and French cultures do and not eating to ‘full’ or feeling the need to empty your plate, or more so, your kids’ plates.

Implementing calm eating habits can help you realize when you’re no longer hungry, and satisfied.

Sit. Breathe. Chew.

  • Eat your meals seated and avoid distractions like screens.

  • Take 2-3 deep breaths before your first bite and any time you feel you are rushing during the meal.

  • Chew each bite of food 10-15 times. Place your fork/food down between bites.

Another tip is to use smaller plates and bowls or to portion 75% of what you normally would. When you finish eating, wait 5-10 minutes before getting more food to give your body time to send the ‘fullness’ signals to your brain.

With the cost of food ever rising, this will save you $$$ as well!
